12 weeks and growing
I had my ultrasound yesterday! The baby is right on schedule sizewise, the heartbeat sounded great & strong, and so far so good! (Yes, huge relief!) Hubby & I were very excited. When the tech went to take the picture, baby turned directly toward the camera and gave a thumbs up! Way to go kid! (Of course in an ultrasound he/she looks more like an alien than a human, but we're hopeful.)
The only downside, at least in my husband's eyes, is the doctor's announcement that since I had once C-section, I'll be having another, so plan for a late February baby. I'm a little suprised at that clear cut decision, without the consideration of a VBAC, and hubby is very upset about it. However, I know I came through the first C-section so easily I'm a little relieved to know I won't have to experience labor pains. Still, is this a little bit of a rash decision on the doctors part? Opinions?

That is curious that the doctor wouldn't want you to at least try. I would put your request in if it is what you would like to do...
Tad is so CUTE! I love that photo and how he/she is looking directly at you :)
Are you kidding? If by some divine act i were to find myself pregnant again, there's no way in the WORLD i would consider a natural birth - particularly at my age (and you know what that is).
Really, I think the C is safer and smarter, and while there are some drawbacks (time in the recovery room, overall recovery time, and a new notch on your bikini line) the health and safety benefits for both you and Tad are entirely worth it.
Labor pains - the real nasty mean hard ones - SUCK.
By the bye, missy, you need to recall WHY you had the C the first time, and even if YOU don't remember it, *I* can vividly call up your agony, angst, stress, distress, etc after hours of useless pitocin... not to mention the cervical gel. Also, with the relative size of your husband (as opposed to yours) it's likely - again - that you will be carrying a large and healthy (unwieldy, too big for the gateway,) child. Consider the trauma to both you and the baby if you were to try to shove a bowling ball through a tennis ball sized hole - carved in calcium.
I think your doctor made the right call.
by the way, definitely an alien pararsite.

LOL...you guys have totally cracked me up this morning! Thanks! I personally have absolutely no problem with planning another C-section...mainly for all of the reasons Fin named!
Greg says that the malpractice is so high for VBAC that almost no one does it...Your hubby can still be there though, right? Maybe he just needs some time to shift gears...you all can still make it meaningful...plan something to make it special like music or light a candle or something...I don't know what'a allowed but I know people do things sometimes that are celebratory...
Soooo cute. I'm jealous...
Hi Kimba, just wanted to stop by and thank you for visiting my blog and for the words of reassurance on my crazy dreams. It's always good to know that I'm not the only one!
Love the ultrasound picture and glad to hear that your baby is doing well.
